Just wanted to post an update on the 2011 River Rendez-Vous in Grande Cache.

This year's event is hosted by The Grande Cache Hotel and Bliss-Stick.ca

New this year are the addition of a beginner run (the lower Muskeg I-II) and a multiday self support trip (Kakwa IV) to the itinerary, which stretched the festival from Friday June 3rd right through to Tuesday June 7th.

Registration fee is $40 and includes accommodation discounts or free camping, all you can eat dinner on Saturday, drink discounts at the bar, and your name in for a brand new Bliss-Stick Kayak of your choice.

The white water survey that was mentioned in the Rapid daily blog a while back has been posted. If you aren't familiar with it, Andy England is doing some research on river use of New Zealand's West coast. The goal is to develop a well rounded source of data on river use and the value that those rivers hold for recreational users, so that there is something to reference when development or conservation is proposed.
